PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a liquid type lead-acid battery for an automobile preventing the state of shortage of charge even in a using state frequently repeating starting and stop of an engine. SOLUTION: Synthetic lignin (bisphenol sulfonic acid polymer condensate) having a molecule weight of about 17,000-20,000 of 0.2-0.6 wt% and 0.22-1.28 wt% carbon black having a specific surface area of 150-300 m<SP>2</SP>/g manufactured from heavy oil are added at the same time to a negative active material of the lead-acid battery.
