PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for casting a rare earth metal containing alloy, which apparatus can uniformly perform a secondary cooling operation in a mass production scale for producing a casting product of an Nd-Fe-B alloy having a non-magnetic R enriched phase, in which, for example, Nd has been appropriately segregated on crystal grain boundaries during a process for further cooling the casting product cooled by a primary cooling operation. SOLUTION: In the vacuum chamber 5 of the apparatus 1 for casting a rare earth metal containing alloy, the molten metal of the rare earth metal containing alloy is introduced from a melting furnace 13 to a cooling roll 15 via a tundish 14, and the thin cast strips are formed and cooled by the primary cooling operation, and then the thin cast strips are introduced to a secondary cooling vessel 31. In the horizontal secondary cooling vessel 31, the thin cast strips are slowly cooled from 900°C to 600°C during 10 min. or more, and are crushed. And then, the thin piece cast products cooled by the secondary cooling operation are introduced from the secondary cooling vessel 31 to a tertiary horizontal and rotary cooling vessel 41 having a water cooling jacket 49 for quenching the thin piece cast products to an ordinary temperature.
