PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a circular knitted fabric, capable of efficiently forming the fabric asymmetrically in such a state that numbers of wales of front and back knitted fabrics are different from each other, without forming a twisted seam. SOLUTION: In this method for forming the circular knitted fabric 1 of which the front side knitted fabric and the back side knitted fabric have the numbers of wales different from each other, a front body 2 having a larger number of the wales is alternately formed by being joined at intermediate positions, while turning around the circular knitted fabric 1. The knitted fabric of the front body 2 having the larger number of the wales is formed from one 4R of boundary lines to joining points 2L, 2R located at intermediate positions of a knitting width, by making the numbers of wales of the knitted fabrics fastened to both sides of needle beds equal. Further, the knitted fabric is formed from the other boundary line 4L of the front body 2 to the joining points 2L, 2R, by turning around the knitted fabric so as to locate the other boundary line 4L between the needle beds, and joined at the joining points. When the knitted fabric is formed from one of the sides of the boundary lines and then alternately from the other side, it is enough to form the knitted fabric up to the intermediate positions on each of the needle beds. Therefore, the circular knitted fabric 1 having a three-dimensional shape as shown in figure (f) is efficiently formed by repeating formation of the front body alternately, while turning around the knitted fabric, without preliminarily forming the twisted seam.
