PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the supporting method of an oscillating portion in order to satisfy the requirements of reduction in size and high precision with regard to the profile of a Lame-mode quartz crystal resonator. SOLUTION: In the Lame-mode quartz crystal resonator exhibiting contour oscillation mode where the quartz crystal resonator expands/contracts in the direction of short side of a rectangular piezoelectric element board if it extends in the direction of long side with four corner points of the piezoelectric element board as nodes when charges are applied thereto, and expands/contracts in the direction of long side if it extends in the direction of short side, the quartz crystal resonator is held at the central position on the major surface of the piezoelectric element board when the length of the rectangular piezoelectric element board is identical in the direction of long side and short side. More specifically, assuming one side of the rectangular piezoelectric element board is L, another side is equal to a multiple of L, and non-oscillating portion at the central position on the major surface of the oscillating portion is held with the length of one and another sides of the piezoelectric element board in units of L.
