PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inner plug fitting apparatus capable of accurately fitting an inner plug by preventing misalignment of the inner plug when the inner plug is fitted, and an inner plug fitting method. SOLUTION: This inner plug fitting apparatus 1 comprises a container holder 3 for holding a container 2, an inner plug knocker 5 vertically movably installed on the container 2 held by the container holder 3 and moved downward toward the opening part 2 with the inner plug 4 sucked thereon to fit the inner plug 4 in the opening part 2a of the container 2, a container guide 6 positioned between the knocker 5 and the container 2 for holding the opening part 2a, the plug 4 and the knocker 5 when the plug is fitted and a conveyer device 7 for transporting the holder 3 holding the container 2 filled with a content to a plugging position of the knocker 5.
