The control process involves making a prediction-based changed in the throttle setting before a changing the valve lift curves. Continuous reporting of required and actual torque takes place only after the prediction--based correction of the throttle valve setting has been made. The changing of the effective valve lift curve followers after a time lag for the gear change. The time point for this is reported from the variation in the actual torque from the intended torque.
