PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothpaste composition capable of controlling increase in hardness with time of a preparation, even though calcium hydrogen phosphate and sodium carboxymethylcellulose are together used, and capable of well maintaining easiness in squeezing the preparation out of a tube and easiness in putting the preparation on a tooth brush, for a long period since immediately after production. SOLUTION: This toothpaste composition is given by mixing (D) alginic acid propylene glycol ester into a toothpaste composition which contains (A) the calcium hydrogen phosphate, (B) water, and (C) the sodium carboxymethylcellulose, wherein a total content of the component (C) and the component (D) is 0.7-1.8 mass% based on a total amount of the composition and a mass ratio of the component (C) to the component (D) [(C)/(D)] is 1 to 4.
