<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle pedal support structure capable of providing the predetermined rotation performance of a pedal by ensuring that a pedal bracket is disengaged from a guide member in the event of an offset collision or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle pedal support structure for supporting an operating pedal 22 around its pivot 26 comprises a bracket 34 to which the pivot of the operating pedal is mounted, with the front end portion of the bracket secured to a dash panel; a guide member 44 having an arm part 64 that surrounds the periphery of each end of the pivot of the operating pedal, with the front end portion of the guide member 44 secured to the rear end portion of the bracket; a sliding fixing mechanism 61 formed on the bracket and the guide member; and a relative position control member 68 secure to each end of the pivot of the operating pedal in such a manner as to make surface contact with the outer face of the arm part of the guide member. The guide member has a guide face 62 that, in the event of a vehicle collision, changes the attitude of the bracket so that after the bracket has been moved backward and disengaged from the guide member, the tread of the operation pedal moves relatively forward. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
