PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure a rotation period of an engine by simple work. SOLUTION: An MI sensor 40 of a small-sized magnetic sensor is attached to a load side of an electric power source connected to an igniter for igniting the engine. A signal detected by the MI sensor 40 is processed through an amplifying circuit 52, a filter circuit 54 and a detection circuit 56. An output from the detection circuit 56 is fed back to the amplifying circuit 52 by an automatic gain control (AGC) circuit 58, to restrain, for example, an amplitude of the output from the detection circuit 56 from being varied by a frequency band.
