摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality display device having high accuracy of a gap between a first substrate and a second substrate without using a particulate spacer. <P>SOLUTION: The display device includes a first substrate, thin film transistors fabricated in a matrix on the first substrate, a second substrate provided opposing to the first substrate, an alignment layer formed on the surface of the second substrate opposing to the first substrate, and a plurality of columnar spacers formed in contact with the alignment layer.
