<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing an abnormal image from being formed due to faulty cleaning. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a cleaning device to remove remaining toner adhering to the surface of an image carrier 11 after transferring a toner image on the image carrier 11 to transfer material P, and a conveyance control means 23 to control the conveyance of the transfer material.
