A winding equivalent to one having a fractional number M/N of turns has N-sections connected in parallel, each linking with M/N of the flux and being partially located in the cavity of a pot core 1, 2 with its connecting conductors passing through symmetrically disposed apertures 11 in the outer shell 1 of the core. As described, some of the sections each link with a segment M/N of the outer shell only, and the remainder link in the opposite sense with a segment (1 - M/N), of the outer shell and with the central core so that again the net flux linked by each section is M/N of the total. Thus, in a <SP>2</SP>/ 3 winding as shown, are section links with a <SP>2</SP>/3 segment of the outer shell and the other two sections each link with a <SP>1</SP>/3 segment of the outer shell and with the central core. The sections are so arranged that the connecting conductors pass through the apertures in pairs with the current flowing in opposite directions in the conductors of each pair so as to be non- inductive.</p> |
