<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein promoting the expression of type II collagen used for diagnosis, therapy or prophylaxis, etc., of diseases associated with cartilage injury. <P>SOLUTION: A cDNA encoding the protein having actions for promoting the expression of the type II collagen is cloned from a cDNA library prepared from a murine cell strain ATDC5 and a human pulmonary fibroblast by using a plasmid CPE43. Thereby, the DNA sequence and an amino acid sequence estimated from the DNA sequence are determined. The protein, the DNA encoding the same, a recombinant vector containing the DNA and a transformant containing the recombinant vector are used for screening substances inhibiting or promoting the expression of the type II collagen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
