PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink ribbon unit, which can determine the remaining amount of the ink ribbon without forming a flange in a ribbon core, while causing neither the fault of the ink ribbon unit nor the failure of the printer body. SOLUTION: A line of magnetic force 51 passing from a fixed portion (portion of 52) of the inner peripheral surface 50a of a cylindrical-shaped delivering ribbon core 50 to the opposite portion (portion of 54) at the opposite side of the fixed portion is generated. A first magnet 52 is fixed in the fixed portion while a second magnet 54 being arranged in the opposite portion. In the state of an ink ribbon cassette 40 being installed in the body of the printer 10, since a magnetic sensor 24 is located in the center section inside the delivering ribbon core 50, the line of magnetic force 51 is detected by the magnetic sensor 24.
