The fire extinguishing module for local use comprises a pressure cylinder with an extinguishing medium, such as powder, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and similar, formed as an aerosol. The module both detects and extinguishes fires. The device (1) comprises a housing (2) formed by a basic structure (3), to which is releasably connected a top structure (4). The module is provided with an extinguish medium for expansion after activation with formation of an aerosol. The chemical transformation involved can be initiated by an electrical impulse provided by an activation unit. The basic structure is provided with several through passage apertures (6) for the aerosol, distributed over different sides of the basic structure. The basic structure also has an information carrier (7) for indication of the type of extinguishing module. The top structure houses electronic components for detection of a fire and subsequent electronic activation of the extinguishing module. The top structure also has several smoke sensors (8) for detection of the commencement of a fire.
