PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air-cooled engine, whose recoil handle is easily operated and which is easily mounted on various types of machines different in mounting condition. SOLUTION: A forward opening 9 for drawing out rope and a handle receiving seat 11 of the recoil handle 10 are positioned at a central part in a horizontal direction of a case front wall 6a of a cooling air inlet case 6, and the opening 9 for drawing out rope is arranged at the front side of a position just above a coil reel groove 12. In this case, a rope guide 13 is disposed between the recoil reel groove 12 and the opening 9 for drawing out rope in the recoil case 4. The recoil rope 14 abuts on the rope guide 13 to bend the recoil rope 14 at the position of the rope guide 13. Therefore, the recoil rope 14 extending from the recoil reel groove 12 to the rope guide 13 is positioned just above the recoil reel groove 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
