PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the constitution of a remote controller side, and to enable a television image receiver to accurately detect the position relative to the remote controller and then suitably adjust the aspect ratio of video display and a stereo sound according to the relative position. SOLUTION: The sign light projection 110 of a liquid crystal projection television 100 projects sign light so that the direction turns clockwise and counterclockwise with time, and the relative position of the remote controller 200 to the liquid crystal projection television 100 is detected from the time between adjacent peaks of the photodetection intensity level of a sign light photodetection portion 210 on the side of the remote controller 200.
