The contact roll (3) may be driven by the first motor (M1) at a constant speed. It engages the outside diameter of the reel of wound strip (2) and drives it at diminishing rpm but constant surface velocity as it builds up on the core spindle (1). The strip (5) is fed continuously, and passes through an eye (6) in a reciprocating traversing device (4) driven by the second motor (M2). The traversing device feeds the strip onto the spool at an angle (alpha) of e.g. 4,5 or 6 degrees. As the outside diameter of the reel increases, the ratio between the rotational speed and the reciprocating speed is changed to alter the laying ratio in whole elements. |
