<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a localized pleurodesis evacuation device for safely and effectively accessing the lung by the creation of a localized pleurodesis. <P>SOLUTION: An evacuation structure part 1004 includes a substantially flat disk with a plurality of holes 1014 that are in fluid communication with an access port 1002. Air in the pleural space enters the holes 1014 and exits the body through the access port 1002. A number of valves and/or check flaps can be used to ensure that air flows only from the pleural space and not into the pleural space. As air is evacuated from the pleural space, the visceral and parietal pleurae come in contact, thereby substantially reducing the risk of a pneumothorax. After a given period of time, adhesion formes around the evacuation structure part 1004.
