PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and a recording system capable of obtaining a uniform image without a granular texture in the case that a plurality of kinds of multi-value signals having two kinds or more of elements such as "dot diameter" and "color" are quantized and a prescribed image is expressed by pseudo halftone processing. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus adds a plurality of kinds of multi-value signals by ink colors (or by dot diameters) to acquire a plurality of addition values and thereafter refers to a multi-dimensional LUT to acquire a tentative quantization value by the ink colors (or by the dot diameters). Thereafter the image processing apparatus separates each of the tentative quantization values by the ink colors (or by the dot diameters) to acquire a final quantization value. Since the image processing apparatus can distribute each of a plurality of kinds of dots in a proper state even in an output image obtained by overlapping a plurality of planes in which a plurality of elements are mixed, the image processing apparatus can output a uniform image without a granular texture.
