<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic door which is rich in responsiveness because an action force etc. exerted on an opening/closing door can be easily sensed, which enables a driving mechanism to be mounted in a proper position of a proper base body, which reduces sounds and vibrations, and which prolongs the life of a driving motor without decreasing a rotational torque of the driving motor. <P>SOLUTION: This automatic door is equipped with the opening/closing door 50 for opening/closing a doorway, and the driving mechanism 10 for opening/closing the doorway by moving the opening/closing door 50. The driving mechanism 10 comprises: a pair of pulleys 34 and 25; a timing belt 28 which is wound on the pulleys 34 and 25 and arranged along the moving direction of the opening/closing door, and to which the opening/closing door is connected; and the driving motor 32 which moves the opening/closing door 50 by rotating one of the pulleys 34 and 25 so as to rotate the timing belt 28.
