The compressor has a piston which is so arranged that it runs back and forth in a cylinder in a linear manner. A coil (134) is wound around a coil holder, and a magnet which produces magnetic force is linearly moved around the coil. A magnetic frame transmits the linear movement of the magnet to the piston. A coolant bore (160) is arranged in contact with the holder. A pump (170) supplies cooling fluid to the bore for cooling the coil.
