Links of a chain 14 which are pivotally attached to flights 12 of a scraper conveyer are provided with lugs 54 which may be of wearresistant steel, contact between the chain 14 and a protective housing 16 and side walls 17, 19 of a trough 10 thus being avoided. During the conveying run, each flight is maintained transversely to the trough by a trailing portion 13 which bears upon the trough wall 19. Additional guiding of the flights is provided by a longitudinal tongue 58 which engages in adjacent rebates 56 in each lug 54. The lugs also sweep the walls 17, 19 free of extraneous material. At the discharge end of the trough 10, the flights are free to pivot about pins 15 of the lugs 54 and assume a trailing attitude in a return channel 18. The protective housing 16 is removably secured by pins 60. By forming rebates 56 in both sides of the lugs 54, additional guiding by tongues on walls 17, 52 may be provided. |
