A drafting assembly for drafting a fibre web has upper and lower rear apron loops 27, 28 having respective support surfaces to grip card web fibres between them and transport the fibres from a rear entrance to a rear nip point, upper and lower front apron loops 29, 30 having respective support surfaces 33, 34 to grip card web fibres between them and transport the fibres from a front nip point 35 to an exit point 36, the front and rear nip points being adjacent and arranged so that the front nip point receives fibres which exit near the rear nip point, the nip point of each loop being wedge shaped with the arms of the loop on each side of the nip point converging at an acute angle towards the nip point. |
