PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display and a video signal correcting method that can improve the response speed of liquid crystal molecules by minimizing a correction error of a video signal, based on the nonlinearity of the response of liquid crystal molecules due to temperature. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device comprises a liquid crystal display panel assembly, having a plurality of pixels, a sensor sensing temperature, and a video correction portion, a data driving portion. In the correcting method of the video correction portion, a plurality of reference data for correction, with respect to temperature are calculated by using a plurality of coefficient parameters of a quadratic equation and corrected video signals of a last video signal, and a current video signal are generated based on the reference data for correction and are outputted. The data drive portion converts the corrected video signals generated by the video correction portion into data voltages, which are outputted to the pixels. In such a method, a correction error of a video signal can be minimized and the response speed of liquid crystal molecules is improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
