<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient means for permuting vector elements in a random manner. <P>SOLUTION: A method of permuting a vector comprises providing vector entries of the vector to an input stage of a permuting structure, wherein the permuting structure comprises a plurality of stages and interconnections for groups of vector entries between the plurality of stages such that any input vector entry can be routed to any output vector entry.
