The invention relates to a friction lining (20), obtained from a preform which comprises several layers (22, 24) of at least one impregnated lobed yarn, said layers being superimposed into a substantially annular general shape, whereby at least several layers are each composed of one turn of impregnated yarn, distributed to form several consecutive lobes and whereby at least two lobed yarn layers differ from each other in the number of lobes by layer and in the lobe intersection angle in each layer.
