PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component mounting device and method for a liquid crystal panel which enable an electronic component to be mounted at a specified component mounting position even when the panel is distorted. SOLUTION: When a liquid crystal panel 1 is disposed in an imaging apparatus 111, the operation of a panel holding device 112 is controlled so that the distortion of the liquid crystal panel is compensated and a mark on the panel side is positioned at the bonding height position, and further the operation of a component holding device is controlled so that a mark on the component side is positioned at the bonding height position and the component is mounted on the liquid crystal panel at the bonding height. Therefore, the mark on the panel side can be imaged in a state of no distortion in the liquid crystal panel and since the imaging position of each mark is identical to the mounting position, the mounting accuracy of the electronic component can be improved compared to a conventional method.
