<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical device capable of quick and high-precision focus detection based on a TTL phase difference detection system and a pupil splitting system. <P>SOLUTION: The optical device includes a first optical element 200 which splits first polarized components 211 and 212, which are included in light which passes an exit pupil of a photographic optical system 125 and goes toward a photoelectric transducer 108, so that they go toward different light receiving areas on the electrophotographic transducer. The optical device includes a second optical element 301 which separates a second polarized component 210 included in light from the first optical element, from the first polarized components.
