PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone terminal in which sound echo can be suppressed effectively without deteriorating switching performance from reception state to transmission state even when it is used in a room of high sound echo. SOLUTION: In correspondence with a volume value being set in a speaker volume 233, a transmission detection gain capable of switching from reception state to transmission state and minimizing sound echo is prestored in a storage section 26. When the speaker volume 233 is set with an arbitrary volume value by a control section 24 and a DSP 237, a transmission detection gain corresponding to that volume value is read out from the storage section 26 and gain of a transmission detection circuit 236 is controlled according to that gain value.
