PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for a display device with a reinforcing material. SOLUTION: The system is composed of a transparent substrate, an interferometric modulator 140 formed to modulate light emitted through the transparent substrate, a backplate 130 sealed to the transparent substrate to form a package, and a reinforcing material 148 which is in contact with the backplate 130.
