PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve data access speed after occurrence of failure by automatic recovery of a volume from a copied volume, and directing a data access path to the recovery volume. SOLUTION: This system and method for automatic recovery of failure include copying of data stored in a first storage volume managing input/output operation between a storage system 300 and a host device 100 to a second storage volume of the storage system. When the failure is detected in the input/output operation in the first storage volume, a recovery process wherein the path to the second storage volume or a third storage volume from the host device is designated to automatically continue the input/output operation is started.
