1285119 Methallyl acetate KNAPSACK AG 10 Dec 1970 [22 Dec 1969] 58723/70 Addition to 1235632 Heading C2C Methallyl acetate is prepared by reacting isobutene and acetic acid with molecular oxygen in the gas phase at a temperature of from 100‹ to 250‹ C. under a pressure of from 1 to 21 atmospheres absolute in the presence of a catalyst comprising metallic palladium supported on a carrier, at least 80% of the carrier consisting of particles of between 0À1 and 1À5 mm. The reaction may be carried out in the presence of an inert gas, the catalyst optionally containing one or more activators. The catalyst, which may be in the form of a fluidized bed, is preferably supported on spheroidal silicic acid. |
