PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move up and down a capping head 8 and a cap supply disk 72 integrally and to move up and down the cap supply disk 72 independently. SOLUTION: This capping apparatus is provided with a container mounting table 4 for placing a container 2 thereon, a capping head 8 for capping the container 2 on the table 4 holding a cap 6, a cap supply disk 72 for supplying the cap 6 to the head 8 provided lower than the head 8, and a head lifting mechanism for moving up and down the head 8 by the drive of a driving motor 56. In addition, a disk lifting mechanism is provided for moving up and down the cap supply disk 72 by transmitting the drive of the motor 56. The drive of the motor 56 is transmitted to the disk lifting mechanism through a differential gear device 102, and when the motor is stopped, only the disk lifting mechanism is activated to move up and down the disk 72.
