摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium reader which can be made inexpensive by simplifying the configuration for reading information on an optical recording medium while excluding the unstable factor of a conventional optical system mechanism. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an imaging device 22 for picking up pits in a prescribed area on an optical disk as an image by receiving the return light of a light beam for reproduction from the recording plane of the optical disk in pickup. Further, the device is provided with an image memory 32 for aligning image data, which are picked up for each prescribed angle by the imaging device 22, with the positions of pits, bonding and temporarily storing these data, an image recognizing block 34 for measuring individual pit lengths and pit intervals on the basis of these image data, a pit length data storage memory 35 for storing the information of these pit lengths and a virtual EFM signal generating block 36 for generating a virtual EFM signal similar to an EFM signal on the basis of this pit length information. Reproduced signals are obtained by performing demodulating processing of the virtual EFM signal in a signal processing part for reproducing the optical disk.
