METHOD FOR PRODUCING CYCLIC SULFIDE COMPOUND AND INTERMEDIATE THEREOF

Disclosed is a method for producing a cyclic sulfide compound wherein two epithiopropylthia groups are bonded to adjacent carbon atoms in a cyclic structure containing two sulfur atoms. Also disclosed are a method for producing an acyloxy compound as an intermediate of such a cyclic sulfide compound, a method for producing a thioester compound, and methods for producing and purifying a thiol compound. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a cyclic sulfide compound which has high refractive index and Abbe number as well as excellent heat resistance and transparency and is thus suitable as a material for producing optical articles such as plastic lenses, prisms, optical fibers, information recording medium substrates, colored filters, infrared absorbing filters and the like. Also specifically disclosed are producing and purifying methods of an intermediate of such a cyclic sulfide compound.
