An electronic control system for a multiple mailbox array, e.g. a poste restant system, has a security code system which enables users to open their boxes and which also enables the service supplier to load the boxes in a time efficient manner. The loading programme for each batch of items selects the boxes in turn and monitors the contents being placed into each box. As soon as one box is loaded and closed the programme automatically opens the next box, or next set of boxes, e.g. for loading sub batches. The programme also monitors the required size of box, from the item coding, and selects the appropriate size of box where possible. |
