PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acetylenic polymer having both an optically active substituent and a conjugated substituent exhibiting light emitting properties and multifunctionality and to provide a method for producing the polymer. SOLUTION: The acetylenic polymer is a polymer obtained by polymerizing a specific optically active acetylene compound. The method for producing the acetylenic polymer comprises polymerizing the specific optically active acetylene compound in the presence of an organic metal complex represented by general formula (II) [MLmL'n]pXq.
