PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively use heat in heating and reduce the installation area in an electric water heater having a water storage tank storing water replenishing a container. SOLUTION: This electric water heater is provided with the container 24 provided in a body 21 and storing the water 22, a heating means 25 heating the water in the container, a lid body 38 covering an upper opening part of the container, the water storage tank 23 storing the water replenishing the container, and a heat storage body 38d provided in the lid body and storing the heat generated when heating the water in the container. The water storage tank 23 is provided in the upper part of the body 21 covering the heat storage body 38d. The heat generated in the heating is thus stored in the heat storage body 38d to retain the water temperature of the water storage tank 23 high and shorten the water boiling time. The water storage tank 23 is positioned in the upper part of the body 21, so that the installation area of the apparatus is the area of the body 21 alone to reduce the area.
