PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact battery housing which prevents interference between a battery and an inner wall of the battery housing, when the battery is attached to or detached from the housing, even if the battery is deformed by expansion due to the effect of the heat generated, when it is in use or by external heat. SOLUTION: The battery housing 2 has an aperture for attaching or detaching the battery 1. Since edges of the longer axis of the cross section of the battery is small in deformation, the guides 12 need only to anticipate tolerance of size in the maximum outside dimension of the edges of the longer axis of the cross section. Clearances 11 are prepared in planes of longer sides, to prevent interference due to the expansion of the battery. In fact, the distance between inner walls of the longer side is widened at the center, by adding clearances 11 to the shorter side so that it is longer than the size of the shorter side 7 at the center to provide the compact battery housing which is prevented from nonconformities in attaching or detaching of the battery.
