PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for displaying a video image outline capable of being a user interface for enabling a user viewing a program to easily and quickly finding a program and scenes to be watched. SOLUTION: Meta-data in which the detailed information of a content is processed into data are analyzed to obtain a start time and a finish time of a partial video image (scene/segment) included in the content and the genre of the partial video image, a partial video image segment indicating a time duration band between the start time and the finish time of the partial video image is indicated on a graph 11 indicating the time length of the content, and this partial video image segment is represented by colors or patterns corresponding to the genre 15 of this partial video image.
