A method for locking selector shafts, e.g. in neutral, for a multiple transmission system, has spring loaded connecting elements (5) with sprung noses to locate into recesses in the selector shafts (1, 2). Moving one shaft displaces the connecting element to increase the grip force on the other shaft. The connecting element has a single control spring with a double ended operation.
