The method involves bringing a finishing tool which is held in a tool magazine into a path of movement of the tool support, coupling it to same for the finishing or machining process and then returning it to the tool magazine. The finishing tool can be coupled to a drive mounted on the tool support. An independent claim is also included for the apparatus with a tool magazine (11) with removable machining or finishing tools and able to move into the path of movement of the tool support (5). The removable finishing tool has a coupling part (9a) to connect with the coupling part (9a) of the tool support .
