PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method whereby a high-purity dialkyl carbonate with an extremely low amount of residual alcohol can be obtained. SOLUTION: The dialkyl carbonate containing residual alcohol is mixed with tosyl isocyanate to perform urethanation reaction of the residual alcohol, and the reaction mixture after the urethanation reaction step is purified and distilled. Preferably, the molar ratio of the tosyl isocyanate to the alcohol is≥0.5. Preferably, the purification and distillation are performed at a temperature 10°C above the normal boiling point of the dialkyl carbonate or lower. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
