An electrolytic capacitor comprising a case and, accommodated therein, a capacitor element produced by winding a pair of counter electrodes with conductive separator (E), the conductive separator (E) on its surface provided with conductive polymer layer (F) containing dopant agent (H), interposed therebetween and impregnating the interstice of the electrode pair with an electrolyte for electrolytic capacitor. It is intended to suppress any increase of ESR with time passage in an electrolytic capacitor making use of the conductive separator (E) by the employment of, for example, an electrolyte for electrolytic capacitor characterized in that with respect to the molar ratio between base component (C) and acid component (D) being electrolyte components contained in the electrolyte for electrolytic capacitor, the acid component (D) is in excess.
