PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition with which the dried coated film formed by a non-polluting means is removed instantaneously after a temporary purpose of use such as marking is achieved, the coated film after the removal ceases to exist naturally, when left as it is and yet the coated film is maintained for an intended period time in an outside environment. SOLUTION: The water-soluble coating composition contains (A) at least one kind of inorganic pigment component composed mainly of calcium carbonate, (B) at least one kind of binder comprising a water-soluble or water-dispersible non-cellulosic anionic resin with a glass transition temperature of -25-40°C, (C) at least one kind of water-soluble thickener and (D) water.
