PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic pattern inspecting device where the tension mechanism is simple and the tension is not required to be applied to tape with a long span even when the horizontal length of a conveyance passage is shortened and two or more image pickup cameras are installed, the tape length between cameras in a lift-down conveyance region and a lift-up conveyance region is adjusted according to a pitch of a circuit pattern. SOLUTION: TAB tape 4 is conveyed along the conveyance passage 21 bent in a substantially U shape by a conveyance means 22. Two of four image pickup cameras 55A-55D for picking up a circuit pattern 5 of the TAB tape 4 are arranged in each of the lift-down conveyance region 21A and the lift-up conveyance region 21B of the conveyance passage 21. The conveyance means 22 comprises a tension sprocket 25, a drive sprocket 26, and a height-adjustable roller 27 for pitch adjustment, and the tape length from the image pickup camera 55B to the image pickup camera 55D is adjusted by the roller 27 for pitch adjustment.
