PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hanging rope rotation stopper for an elevator capable of certainly suppressing rotation action by rotation force based on tension of respective hanging ropes with a simple structure and easy work. SOLUTION: The hanging rope rotation stopper for the elevator is provided with a plurality of hanging ropes 3 for hanging down and supporting a car of the elevator and a balance weight; shackle rods 8a, 8b, 8c connected to ends of the hanging ropes 3, penetrated through a beam member 2 from a lower part to an upper part respectively and supported on the beam member 2 through a tension adjustment means; and a bracket 20 provided between the respective shackle rods 8a, 8b, 8c each other projected from the beam member 2 and having one end fastened and fixed to one shackle rods 8a, 8b, 8c each other and the other end engaged with the other shackle rods 8a, 8b, 8c to suppress the rotation of one shackle rods 8a, 8b, 8c.
