PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive cushioning device for use in packing with a small quantity of corrugated fiberboard used and capable of surely cushioning a packed item. SOLUTION: The cushioning device includes a pair of upper and lower backing plates 11 and 12 to be mounted on and under the packed item 10, and is equipped with cushions 16-18 set up by folding corrugated fiberboard 40 along the inside of creases 13 for folding both side ends of the plates 11 and 12 at about right angle.
