MODIFIED EPOXY COMPOUND, CATIONIC POLYMERIZATION INITIATOR AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING MODIFIED EPOXY COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a modified epoxy compound having cationic polymerization initiation activity, to provide a method for producing the modified epoxy compound and to obtain a cationic polymerization initiator having excellent cationic polymerization initiation activity. SOLUTION: The method for producing a modified epoxy compound comprises modifying the side-chain hydroxy group of a secondary alcohol structure obtained by reaction between a polyfunctional glycidyl compound and a monohydric aromatic hydroxy compound with a sulfonylating agent. The modified epoxy compound has excellent cationic polymerization initiation activity by reactivity of the sulfonate group on the side chain. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
